This project has already been an adventure.
This past weekend I moved to Cleveland – it was very hard to say goodbye
to Cincinnati, my home of the last four years, but it had to be done. There were tears, but they were happy
tears. Anyway I digress.
I’m currently living in a very big house, it’s too big for one person, and
very “lightly furnished”. I’m occupying
one room in the house that hold so many memories for my family. It is the house my grandparents owned for 50
years, the house my grandfather added onto, the house my mother grew up in, and
the house I remember visiting as a child.
It seems almost perfect that I am now occupying the house of the person who
was the genesis for my project. She is
my reason for this research; she is the reason I want to give something to the
world that will help others, something that will hopefully make it easier for
another family to deal with this disease.
As my mother and I cleaned up the yard when she helped me move she said,
“Grandma would be proud of you.” That to
me is one of the highest compliments. My
grandmother was one of the most hardworking women I knew. She is also one of the most loving women I
know.
Being in her house is a constant reminder of what I’m doing and why I’m
doing it.
Thanks Grandma.
